Elizabeth Madden, MAAT, LPC

Elizabeth began her career as a professional artist and designer prior to becoming interested in helping children through various art mediums.  Early on, she created and designed sets for national television commercials geared towards children.  Later, her work as a consultant included designing window displays and interiors for Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.  Demand for her artistic talent eventually led to the start of a flourishing interior design business.  Her belief in the tranformative effects of art led to a desire to share art with others in a more meaningful way.  Intuitively she knew that she could contribute more to the world.  Today she expresses that passion through art therapy as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Elizabeth has an ineffable passion for art.  Her commitment to artistic expression is woven into every area of her professional life.  Elizabeth’s medium is watercolors as well as mixed media and collage.  She has studied and exhibited at Silvermine School of Art (New Canaan, CT).  She has also exhibited at the Community Cooperative Nursery School (Rowayton, CT).  She has won several awards for work in mixed media and has sold many original pieces.

Elizabeth has worked privately as an art therapist for a child psychiatrist at Yale and continues to work as an adjunct to physicians throughout Connecticut.  Additionally, she has instructed art classes at several schools in Fairfield County.

Through the development of WellArt Studio, Elizabeth continues to provide counseling and art therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, some of whom have unique life challenges.  She actively participates in seminars and workshops on the latest developments in art and psychology.  Currently involved in healing projects within the community of Newtown.
